Well who would have thought we would have been up and walking the beach at 7 am and then have had breakfast straight afterwards.  The LA lifestyle has certainly taken a hold on us.

We were out and on the Pacific Coast Highways really early and did a tour of the coast northwards via Huntingdon Beach, Long Beach, Venice Beach, Santa Monica and Malibu.

Highlights along the way were the Queen Mary which is now moored in Los Angeles and used as a Hotel.  Venice beach where they even have a outdoor gym with wieghts on the beach.  At Santa Monica we visited Getty Villa (owned by John Paul Getty foundation).  This is a beautiful villa recently refurbished to house all his roman, greek and estrucan artefacts and the villa is modelled on a roman villa based on the one at Pompeii.  It was a very beautiful place with some wonderful gardens and they had a fab childrens room and programme where emma made perfume out of olive oil and herbs and made a roman medal.

We did a tour of Malibu and tried to spot some stars but they were most probably just lounging about at home.  It was all lovely.

On our way back south we then did a stop off to drive to Rodeo Drive.  Emma & I thought it would be this massive street with shops on but it was a smallish road with lots of very expensive shops.  There wasn't one that I would have wanted to go in so we decided not to spend an extravagent amount on parking.  It was all very reminiscent of Pretty Woman though.

Dinner again at BJ's Grill and then we walked back to the hotel along the beach and very nearly got drowned as the waves are really up high tonight.

Emma says:  The museum was the best one she has ever been too and she couldn't believe that mummy didn't want to go shopping on Rodeo drive - that must be a first.  Missed my boogie boarding today but will be out tomorrow morning bright and early.
