Day 13:
The train ride sucked. I'm definitely getting a sleeper next night train. I had 2 drunk guys in there with me and one insisted on laying on my lap. It was like Eurotrip. Thankfully they got off at the first stop. I was able to lay down on the bench and get some sleep. It was hard to sleep since I kept feeling like I overslept. Not that it mattered since I missed the station even awake. Between dreams, I looked out the window and saw tons of vinyards and little houses with beautiful gardens. Evidently they only call the station Ve Mestre instead of Venezia. I ended up actually in Venice. I got off and figured I might as well browse while I'm here. I got RAPED on my currency exchange. $300 should not equal E161! She took a 16% commission! I hit up the closest waypoint which was the Santa Maria church. It didn't look all that interesting and I couldn't get inside yet, so I headed for the Piazza San Marco. Holy tourists Batman! I took some pictures, very quickly decided the line was too long and wandered a bit instead. I wasn't THAT interested in seeing anything in the museum. What a disappointment. I'm guessing they cleaned the place up a bit since it didn't seem dirty anywhere I went. The canals were nice and it was neat walking through all the little passages. If there weren't so many tourists I could have enjoyed it.
EDIT: I found out that it only smells when it's hot
