The pryamids of Ihuatzio are just a short ride by collectivo from the town of Patzcuaro in the state of Michoacan. I was able to catch a collectivo, or Volkswagen van taxi, from the plaza of the hotel we were staying. About fifteen minutes later, I was let off at a crossroads and took a short walk to the ruins. The site is kept up by INAH and there is a small fee to enter. After paying the keeper I wandered around and since there was no sign saying not, I climbed to the top of the big pyramid. After a bit, I saw the groundskeeper waving his hands and yelling. I took that to mean that I wasn't supposed to be up there and that was OK, I had already taken enough photos from the top. I then climbed down and continued to walk around.
