Well this past week has been absolutely amazing as we went through orientation for our ministry here in Manila. On Tuesday, we continued orientation in the morning, and then in the afternoon we headed off to Itramuros, and Santo Tomas. These are both two separate cities that make up Metro Manila. Our first stop was STU (Santo Tomas University). Here we toured the campus, met students, and checked out the museum. It was very interesting. After that, we took a Jeepney over to Quiapo. Quiapo is a gigantic Roman Catholic Cathedral in Manila. This was a huge learning experience for me. Outside of Quiapo, they were selling herbal remedies (Even one to have an abortion), fortune telling, and palm reading. There was a statue in the cathedral of the dead Jesus, and everyone was rubbing it with a cloth, and kissing his feet. It was very sad to see
all of the lost people there
On Wednesday, we went to Megamall which is 1 km long and 6 stories high. They have absolutely crazy amounts of malls here. So we shopped there all day.
On Thursday, we all went to the VOICE office in the afternoon. VOICE teaches moral values to students in the filipino schools.
On Friday, we hung out with some students at an after school program in a church near where we stayed, in Manila.
On Saturday, we moved from the Guest House in Manila to San Fernando. On the way up we stopped and put on a mini program for some pastors. I got to learn a lot about the Philippines that day because we saw a lot of the country while travelling.
On Sunday, we went to church in San Fernando and did a presentation in the morning service, and then went to a groundbreaking service. In the afternoon we went swimming with the youth group at a resort. After that Dave and I went to Manila to narrate the SEND International Recruitment Video.
So that is my week at a glance. I will continue updating you guys as the weeks go on. Thanks for praying for us and supporting us. God Bless!!!
