Hey Everyone,

Well this past week has been extremely crazy around the orphanage. We have been doing updates all week which includes (For All Children) photos, weighing and measuring, progress reports, etc. When you have 123 children at the orphanage, it gets a little crazy. We have also been getting really excited for a family that is coming down from Sweden to pick up their child. They are going to come on Thursday, and they are bringing a camera crew down with them to shoot an "Adoption Story", so we have also been preparing for that.

Last week was absolutely amazing for me. We made so much progress with the kids, and we had fun dressing them up for pictures, and taking some crazy pictures of our own. Us volunteers are allowed to go pretty much anywhere we would like to as long as we are in before dark. Lucy, our newest volunteer, and I decided one day to take a walk down to the waterfall (No one else wanted to go because they say it is too far). We had an awesome time experiencing the Haitian culture as we stopped to talk to people along the way, and take pictures of really cool and funny things that we saw along the way. On the way back from the waterfall we were stopped by a lady and she asked us to take her child. This lady has offered me her child every time that I have walkes by her, and it just shows how impoverished this country is that people are offering their children to strangers on the road. In case you are wondering I turned her down and as far as I know, she still has the child.

On Saturday, 3 other volunteers and I went on another "Feeding". This was the second feeding that I went on (Remember, a "Feeding" is where we hand out food to people living in villages about 2 hours away), and I was really excited because many of my friends from The Brothers orphanage were going. There were 27 people crammed into my truck, but it was awesome because I got into some really good conversations with many of the orphans on the way there and on the way back. At the end of the day, I got the e-mail addresses and phone numbers of these people, and I will continue to keep in contact after we leave. This time on the "Feeding" we stopped at 2 villages and instead of rice, we handed USAID packages of dehydrated vegetables.

On Sunday, I had the oppourtunity to go to the American church down in Port-Au-Prince. This was awesome because I got to meet people that are involved in other missions throughout our part of Haiti. After church, I took a trip up to the Lookout. This is a mountain that directly overlooks Port-Au-Prince. You can see everything up there. The airport, ocean, entire city, and I was above the clouds, so that was really cool as well. I will be going back up there this Saturday to take some more pictures.

Today was such a good day, because one of the children I am working with Jonathan started smiling and playing today. They assigned me to him because he would not open up to anyone or smile, and today I had him playing with Mega Blocks, smiling, and nodding his head. This was such and encouragment because one of my missions for this trip was to get him to smile.

Well, that is my update for this week. I am looking foreward to what God has in store for me in the week and a half to come. Have an awesome week and God Bless you all!!!
