Sri Pada, Samanalakanda, Butterfly Mountain, also known as Adam's Peak, this is THE climb to make while visiting Sri Lanka. The steep mountain has attracted all types, whether you're a mere traveler, an explorer, a pilgrim, or even a king. Why is it so revered and trafficked? Well, atop the mountain is a temple which houses a giant footprint in a rock. Buddhists believe the Lord Buddha harnessed the mountains energies and levitated atop it. Hindus believe the giant footprint to
be that of Shiva, the Creator and Destroyer. Muslims believe the print may belong to the first man on Earth, Adam. While some Christians claim that a saint (St. Thomas ) ascended to heaven from here.
Whatever or whomever has been here, it's an ass-kicking climb that leads to a magnificent view! To the photos!!!
