Kandy is where we would stop for at least two days. It is famous as the home of the golden roofed Dalada Maligawa, aka the Tooth Temple...more on this later. But Kandy wasn't just a place for those who get their kicks out of ancient dentistry! Of course, there are hillside temples with gigantic Buddhas, there's the city center lake to walk around, hiking in the hillside, a visit to the Peradeniya Royal gardens, and a performance highlighting Kandian folk dress and dancing. A very tranquil stopover after a hectic few first days in Sri Lanka.
