Arriving in Semporna, on the northeastern coast of the Celebes Sea in Sabah, Borneo, Malaysia, on New Years Eve, we were greeted by a huge party of costumed heroes and villians, the New Years theme of the local dive shop. we partied a bit and Chris arranged to do a scuba course while I arranged to visit Sipidan Island, a regularly cited top 5 dive spot. A few years ago the island was closed by the government and set up as a protected marine park, resulting in the cessation of coral destruction and the flourishment of one of the worlds most biologically diverse marine areas. Long story short, for the several days I dove there I was constantly surrounded by giant green sea turtles, white-tipped reef sharks, colorful coral and hordes of small sea life. I didn't have my underwater digital camera housing, so I have few photos to share, but I believe the videos are pretty good and, basically, great scuba diving!
Sipidan Island itself was fantastic with beautiful white sand beaches surrounding the tropical jungle island. Relaxing under palm trees while gazing out over the azure waters before chasing around monitor lizards and having a grat curry lunch isn't a bad way to spend your day! ;)

I've been there, several years ago - and this really takes me back. Great job taking pix and video and writing about it.
