The following day, I had a three and a half hour boat ride to the Thai border...but the wind was rather heavy, so the waters were choppy and the boat sloshed all over the ocean - so imagine feeling on the verge of vomiting for 3.5 hours -actually imagine feeling on the verge of vomiting for 3 hours and 10 minutes, because I for damn sure didn't make it the whole journey and found my way to the toilet just in time for the grey and pale green ejaculation of vomit from my face!! (haha - nice depiction, huh?!) Make that 4 grey and pale green vomits...but I felt much better afterwards
! We landed in the border city, i.e. hole, of Koh Kong in Cambodia and were immediately attacked by the locals, who acted as savages on the brink of starvation! In all my travels I've never come across such a physically aggressive horde of people before. There's an unwritten rule of not physically touching travelers, but they obviously haven't heard of it in this part of Cambodia! Just for the $1 to drive us to the border, a dozen Cambodian men surround you and start pulling you in every conceivable direction and they're yelling at you to take their motorbike or taxi or whatever! Peoples hands were on my backpack and shoulders and arms, so at one point I rather aggressively just say 'Back Up" and at the same time I push 3 guys back on my left and swing my backpack round and hit two more on my right (the only advantage of carrying a 60 pound backpack). They didn't take to kindly to this but tended to give me a bit more space than the others and I quickly boarded a pickup to the border and watched while a more 'agreeable' traveler was being pulled and spun in 4 directions while the Cambodian drivers screamed at each other and argued over who 'had' him...like I said, just to get his $1!! Crazy! Now, think about what you spent $1 on today ...was it worth attacking someone and screaming at everyone?? It is if you live in Koh Kong apparently!
I had a 4 hour bus ride to Sihanoukville, Cambodia's only deep-water port and beach getaway. Basically I'll just spend the night here and make my way back to Thailand tomorrow. I just walked around a bit and read and went to the faded beach and did nothing but wait for tomorrow's boat.
