After Houston, Kenny and I drove west towards Austin, my old college stomping grounds. We stayed at Kim's house, though unfortunately she was out of town, but she let us use her pad for the three days we were staying there. She has a really cute little house that she's still decorating and it was very comfortable. Most of my friends have vacated Austin, but a few are still about, whcih led us to more of the same - a few good nights out and some great food. Kim recommended El Chile, a groovy little Mexican restaurant that was fantastic, so we met up with my old roommate Jason and had some excellent food and then wandered around Sixth Street, eventually making our way over to Fifth Street and the famous Lucky lounge, where we heard some great live Austin music.

The next day we met up with old college buddy Willie and his girlfriend at a local pub and he gave me an interesting present, the state flag of Texas that was flown over the Texas State History Museum on the 15th, the exact day that I came back into Austin for the first time in over two years! Pretty cool! That night found us at the Alamo DraftHouse, a movie theater where they serve food and drinks, watching King Kong, which I highly recommend...ummm, King Kong that is, but also the Draft House!

The weather wasn't so great, really cold, so we didn't get to do any great outdoor activities and our last night was pretty chill as we hung out with Jason and his girlfriend at a few local pubs before calling it a night.
