Cebu City reminds me so much of Mexico - the weather is hot and humid (I love it), the style of dress, the condition of the city, the dark hair, eyes and skin, the speech (which is very Spanish-oriented), and the local transport are called jeepneys, all brightly colored and chromed out like low-riders on steroids! I had a day to kill before Brian (Hawaii) from Japan meets me so I just walked around and Cebu has some intersting sites, such as: Fort San Pedro, a fort from the 1560s with 8 foot thick walls and a great interior garden area; Basilica del Santo Nino and Cebu Cathedral, which the BSN houses the oldest religious relic in the Philippines brought here by Magellan in 1575; and Magellans Cross, which marks the location where missionaries first baptized Filipinos as Christains in 1521 (remember Magellan from being credited with being the first explorer to circumnavigate the globe).
The next day Brian arrived around 6 and we just caught up, had dinner, and ended up at this nice restaurant patio complex with live music, so we just chilled and took it easy as we'll catch a morning ferry to Panglao island.
