From here to the sea takes three days. Since three weeks ago, we had forecast we would end on Sep 1, so mum very kindly booked us a hotel in Banyuls for that night. As we are ahead of schedule due to excellent planning and dry weather, we are going to take four days to complete the final stretch.

Went into town early because we couldn't help waking up at 8:30, and it was wise to visit before it got too hot. We took our bowels and spoons, bought fresh milk and cereal, and ate our breakfast in the grounds of the eleventh century Benedictine abbey. Although famous, there was hardly anybody here on a Saturday.

In the evening, we had beers and madelines with Kühn by our tent. He too had planned to end on the 1st September in order to meet friends, so it was great that we were going to end together, after meeting in week two. Sadly, he told us that long ago he was in the Pyrénées when his father died and that his mum as well as his brother have cancer.
