We can´t believe we had to leave Argentina so early. We go back there to visit the Argentinian side of the Iguazu Falls, but that´s it. Anyway, we had a one hour ferry ride over the dodgy brown river to a place called Colonia (we had to go through customs first).

Colonia is like two towns in one ... the newer section with shops, etc, and the older, coble stoned street section down by the river. It was set up by the Portuguese to smuggle stuff into Argentina. Apparently the Portuguese and the Spanish have changed ´ownership´of Colonia seven times over the years. The Spanish are now officially in charge.

Our hostel was really nice, with a big roof that you could climb onto to have a drink and watch the sun over the nice, brown water!

We went out with the group for yet another expensive dinner ... we are going to have to stop doing that!

We only had one day in Colonia. Ian and I had a good look around the next morning before buying some fresh baguettes and meat to make our lunches, before hitting the bus to Montevideo.
