After all the fun we had in Rotorua it was time to move on or our money pot will be empty, so the three of us drove to Taupo. People say its set to rival Rotorau as the adrenaline capital for the north island, so we were keen to get there.  On the way we passed a sign for Huka falls and thought great let's go see, now I have seem lots of waterfalls on our trip but these were the prettiest of all, the water was crystal clear so it looked ice blue.  Lake Waikato is New Zealands longest river and it runs from Lake Taupo with such force the water is slammed into a narrow chasm forcing a 10 m drop into a swirling pool, it was quite incredible to see, we stood there ages watching.  We then took a river side walk for half an hour then back in the car.  We were amazing at how we nearly drove past the falls and both relived we didn’t.

A short drive and we arrived at Taupo which is situated right on the edge of Lake Taupo which is huge, the back drop was amazing with snow capped mountains as far as the eye could see.  Best of all the rain had cleared up so we both donned flip flops and wandered around the town and I found a great bargain betty shop with a sale on so bought some new clothes, while Justin scratched his head wondering where the hell I will put them when we have to carry our rucksacks again. We had lunch on the riverside and I found some pumice stones which I took of the shore line they are formed by a volcanic eruption many years ago. Opposite the lake there was a field and a guy was renting our segways to the public so we both jumped at the chance, its battery powered two wheel stand up bike thing and you basically lean forward to move it forward and the more you lean the faster it goes, to turn you just lean left and right, we had so much fun racing around this field with a group of other people it was so much fun to try something new.

The YHA hostel we found had a camp area so we pitched the tent and when we got back from our day out we both sat in a hot tub and relaxed for a while before planning where to go next.
