Fed up with night busses and due to the fact the weather forecast was not good we decided to split a 24 hour journey up and take a day bus north 8 hours to Luang Namtha. The roads were very twisty and we climbed through the mountains, we passed so many children under 7 years old walking near the roadside carrying baskets full of bamboo they have cut that day. Imagine going to work at the tender age of 7. We did take some usefull tips from these young childeren when it came to crosing the roads in Namtha, what with all the traffic it was a bit of a task, where is kevin Kegan when you need him!

Luang Namtha is popular for trekking around the nature reserve, but we never did find that out! We decided to watch movies, play cards and drink Beer Lao, so racked with guilt we thought we would get a motorbike the following day and explore the area but nope that didn't happen either.  I kept trying to justify it by saying "Well it was only meant to be a stopover".  I have defiantly lost my mojo, just can’t be bothered to do anything this week.  I did however pluck up the energy to run out form the bathroom in absolute shock at the size of the spider I saw in the toilet bowl.  It was massive, literally the size of the palm of my hand (including legs), I was so shocked I couldn’t scream.  After pushing Justin in the toilet and shouting “spider man” he was a little confused as to what was going on, I think he thought Spiderman was in the bathroom not 'a spider man'. Then I heard “Holy shit” from behind the door, he found it I thought.  It took the power of the shower to flush it down the plug hole but I was told “it didn’t give in easy”. Of course he is going to say that – he was probably stood on the toilet seat whilst trying to catch it!  I covered the shower drain, put the plug in the sink and put the toilet seat down until we checked out the following day.  I can’t believe I have travelled through Australia and it’s not until I arrive here that I see a spider that big......never let your guard down!
