The way to Gondar is amazing when you pass through the Blue Nile Gorge and other amazing landscapes. Gondar was Ethiopians capital as from the year 1632 for 250 years long! Due to this it is full with cultural heritage sites and the most important is the royal enclosure. This is where the palaces of Fasiladas and his son Johannes were based in those years. My guide Charly took me around and explained the history as we walked through the ancient garden with historical buildings all around.

A visit to Debre Berhan Selassie church was the next site which was small but impressive. The artwork inside the church is really amazing and the pictures show why. The walls full with paintings which tell biblical stories and include Adam and Eve, Jesus and many other saints and important people from the Ethiopian history.

When I got shaved by a very friendly barber I moved to the Dashen beer brewery since I heard that some people went there the day before and it is recommendable. To taste half a liter of beer for 8 Birr (33 eurocent) is ofcourse reason enough in itself!

Practical stuff

-          The Belegez Pension is recommended since it is decent, good price and a good location.
