Couchsurfing at Byron

After my couchsurf request to Kisumu another guy responded but lived in Eldoret where we were planning to go. A quick call confirmed our next stay at Byron in Eldoret and he even picked us up with his car there. His plan was to take us 35 km's further to a place called Iten where you have the well-known Kerio View which is a beautiful spot. Iten is the home ground of almost all Kenyan athletes which are trained in the high-altitude performance center in Iten. Apparently the genetic featured of this tribe of people together with the high altitude conditions make them the perfect athletes.

We only had one day and one night in Eldoret but that didn’t mean that we couldn’t have a taste of the Eldoret nightlife! Byron is a 38 year old Kenyan born guy with Portugese/ Indian parents and was back in Kenya after having lived in London for most of his life. He is a student and knew all the good places. Before we could dive into the nightlife we first had to visit the local bar where they sell KEG, according to the people this is 'waste beer’ but still ok in quality and very cheap. Not as good as a Tusker but good enough to drink one. Later that evening we checked out the local bar and got a taste of the real African dancing which is VERY CLOSE to a girl and is almost genuine sex. If you would do the same in the Netherlands with a girl you probably end up with a broken nose or a thick eye J
