From Swakopmund decided to hitchhike to Windhoek just for the experience. Because of some weet talking I first got a free ride for 70 km's and afterwards paid with some food and 10 N$ to go to Windhoek.

I contacted Kenneth, a Namibian guy I knew from the bus Lusaka – Windhoek, and he invited me for a party. At the same time he was on couchsurf so I stayed at his place for 4 nights eventually. He has a really cool apartment and stays with Caro, Euen, Chris and Julian which are all cool people. We really had fun in these 4 days and had a crazy party with 60 people and after that went to the Fashion bar for some serious dancing.

The next day, a bit hangover, we went to the Katutura area where the 'real’ Windhoek is and ate Kapana at the Single Quarters. Imagine this as a big market where you can buy bread, salads, drinks and meat from a bbq. We were with 5 and just ordered several things, then wrapped the meat in a piece of newspaper and ate it all together. Very tasty and cheap and a great place to go. Consequently we went for a beer in a local bar called Oshamboba but because people were happy to see 5 whites in this area we got drinks and stayed there drinking for 3 hours!

Half drunk we went for some food and bought some new bears when some drunk guy was a bit annoying and begging us for money. Just as we were about to leave the guard started interfering and busted the guy in the head with his hard plastic stick. We were shocked, got out of the car and tried to assist this poor man. What a stupid crazy guard just hitting a low life guy like that in the head for nothing. He was knock out for a few minutes and was bleeding in his face. We helped him up and reported the incident to the shop owners but in Namibia people also don’t care much.

After all this commotion watched some football, the boring match between France and Spain and went some beer again at Que Tapas bar. Met again with some familiar faces and had fun before going to bed.

Practical stuff

-          In Windhoek you have to go to Katutura to a place called Single quarters to eat Kapana. A must. Preferably go with a few people and afterwards for a drink at a local bar close to there.
