After the unexpected stop I went further to the Zimbabwean border to meet another couchsurfer in Mutare, the first city over the border. At the border I changed my last meticash for US dollars since that is the main currency in Zimbabwe. Walked again across the border which is really funny by the way. 'Checked out' in Mozambique and filled in the forms, paid 30 dollars and that was it. Only I had to write down the address where I will be staying so I had to call Martin (the Austrian couchsurfer) to complete the info. Apart from this bureaucratic stuff the situation at the border was quite relaxed with some laughs and small jokes about the stamps and visa.

First impressions: I can talk with the people again since they talk English, no food to buy in the streets, Zimbabwe is expensive, pay in US dollars and get rand (or candy) back if it's smaller than 1 dollar, friendly people and a nice city.

In the afternoon met up with Martin and exchanged some stories and went for dinner to a Chinese restaurant. This was the cheapest option (8 dollars for a meal!!) but it was really good food! Ofcourse I was a bit tired so went to bed early.

Next day chilled out, did some reading about Zimbabwe and other stuff and had a relaxing day. In the evening I cooked some spaghetti and we had a nice dinner with some south african red wine and after that watched a movie so had a quiet night.

Practical stuff

-        If you come into Zimbabwe (and any other African country) make sure you know where you are going to stay. Pick a hostel from the Lonely Planet in the city you are going to since then there are no questions asked.

-        Transportation from the border to Mutare shouldn't cost more than $2 so make sure you agree on the price before you enter the vehicle.
