About 50 km's south of Nkhata Bay lies the small town Kande with a beautiful beach resort Kande Beach. Eric (American guy who works for the American Peace Corps in Malawi) told me in Mzuzu that I had to go here since there was a party due to the American Independence Day. It was quite a walk from the main road (3 km) but it was worth it since it is a beautiful place. Funny because apart from 3 Overland trucks and 20 Americans I was the only visitor. But now I had a tent so I put it up and slept the first night in my own tent. Actually the first night ever in my own tent since I never owned a tent before.

On independence day I walked around a bit and swam in the beautiful lake Malawi which is like and ocean that big. I heard diving was also possible here so arranged a night dive and went with Stan a Malawian dive instructor. My first fresh water dive and my first night dive at the same time. Pretty exciting as you got dropped in the water with a flash light and only see where you shine. It was not really a good dive because there is no coral and not a lot of fish. I saw 2 big Cat Fish and of course a lot of Ciclids. However, a good experience and I enjoyed it.

After the dive the party had already begun and the Americans started a camp fire and had some fire works. This evening we were with about 60 people because of the Overland trucks. Had a lot of conversations with several people and the party night was good. Went to bed at 1 am.
I decided to stay another day to relax a bit. Not really because I run to the village, bought some food and stuff, played volleyball 2 times, swum, and played a football match with the local children. They were asking me if I needed something and would like to sell me all kinds of stuff. I told one guy that the only thing I would like to have is a Bob Marley t-shirt. I gave him 200 Kwacha (1 euro) for transportation since he had to get the shirt in another town and payed 1200 in total which is 6 to 7 euro.
