Next morning the plan was to discuss what to do next since I would like to go to the best places on Mafia. With William, Afro, and White I discussed the possibilities and White took me by Piki-Piki to Bweni which was a 2 hour drive along the only sandy road on Mafia. Went to Ras Mkumbi to the old lighthouse (dated 1892) and after that met with Yussuf in Bweni where I would spend the night. Just a basic house on a beautiful beach. In this part of Mafia not many tourists go since everyone looked at me and the little children (watoto) were afraid of me and ran away.

After a walk, swimming, and playing with some kids on the beach I would like to take a shower. No problem according to Yussuf, but I had to walk to the village well to get my bucket of water which can be used as a shower. In a small bamboo shed just outside his house I could enjoy the cold shower. In Tanzania, the toilet and shower is often one room so I could see (and smell) the human droppings under me.

While sitting outside the children were playing football so I couldn't resist the challenge and played along. Unlike at my Dutch football team (BVV 3) I did manage to score a goal here @ Mafia! Later, when I asked Yussuf about the dinner he told me we were invited by his brother nearby. In a small house we could sit on the floor and Yussuf got me some rice and.....octopus!?!?! I was a little bit conservative in the beginning but it really tasted good and I was very hungry so ate a lot. Time to go asleep but not before we saw (part of ) the eclipse and according to Yussuf that only happens once in 40 years.
