Where I stayed
Megunticook RV Camp by the sea
We started the day with a quick trip down to Portland to get the oil changed in the van. Sprinter dealers are not as prevalent as Ford. The Portland waterfront has been renovated very nicely. We continued on to Freeport which is home of L L Bean. We had been here eightreen years earlier on our trip up the Maine Coast and could see a lot more development. Not being shoppers we stopped for a lobster roll and looked around. The passenger train will be soon be running from Portland up through Freeport and on to Brunswick. We continued up Route 1 comparing our memories from our earlier trip and stopped at Camden - our favorite place from our earlier trip. We found a delightful campground right on the ocean which had a nice deck right above the rocks. Unfortunately it was raining. We wandered around Camden, could not find the B & B we had stayed at but did find the same restaurant. Back then it was more of a shack, now it was a very well-known large restaurant Waterfront Restaurant. The lobster was great ($24 now vs $8 back then). We also found the site of a house we almost bought earlier. It had been torn down for a mcmansion but the site was still lovely.
