Friday morning we took Duke to what we thought would be his boarding kennel for three days. The place had wonderful reviews and a two acre free run park with it. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the reality and decided to take him elsewhere which turned out to be a very nice kennel associated with a vet and two other labradoodles to keep him company and was actually better located in Cathedral City. We were very happy to see that Palm Springs (old down town) has improved tremendously in the two years since we have been here. Everything is freshly painted and the 1940's art deco style looks great with very few empty storefronts and many new restaurants. Cathedral City has also undergone a lot of improvements - at least along the major streets. We were so glad to get to Palm Desert again - it was almost like coming home. We have had so many golf trips here over the past fifteen years we don't need a map to find our way around. Everything is so manicured and there is so much green you don't realize that just across I 10 is that old desert again. That desert too is shrinking. We just took it easy for a few days, enjoyed our favorite restaurants, and played golf and bridge. This is still the only place we would consider spending a month or more in the winter.
