Well I really don't know where the last three years have gone. Back in 2007 when we first decided to do this trip, it was so far away that it was just like a random dream to take place some time in the future …… now it’s a matter of  hours before we leave our home and everything and everyone that is familiar to us for the next six months.

I’ve been writing this travel blog for the last three years, mainly for my own memories as I get older. You see, already I can remember countless places I’ve been throughout my life but, due to my goldfish like memory, I could only tell you that I’ve been there and sometimes of a highlight incident that sticks out in my mind for some reason, so now I write it here in black and white for future memories. 

My family and friends at home haven’t been included on the notifications before, as it was originally more just a record for me of things that have taken place.  However, due to the amount of time we’ll be away for, this blog is going to be the main way for people to know that we are alive and well and having a great time!!   So, for your sins family and friends, should you have the time and/or inclination, you now also have the privilege of reading my ramblings while we do this trip! You will usually find a journal of things that happen along the way, a few thoughts, feelings and observations, sometimes a bit of humour and several photographs.  Welcome one and all!

For now, it is finally time to go and explore and live our dreams - keep safe everyone and see you six months down the line :-)

The next time I update this blog, I’ll be in India!!  - providing Heathrow manages to clear the snow and ice and come good of course!
