I've been reflecting on things over the last few days – I often take time out to do that and I’ve realised something has happened in my life that wasn’t a conscious decision.

For years I’ve wanted to travel in one way or another and have spent vast amounts of time dreaming of travelling and the places I’d like to go and the things I’d do. It struck me earlier, as I was sitting outside under the porch in the back garden, listening to the rain crash down and watching a small spider weave it’s intricate web in the shelter of the corner of the porch …… it’s almost like I’ve waited my whole life to do some sort of extended travel.

What brought me to this realisation is when it dawned upon me that I have no other plans.   Why is this odd?    Well, for years I’ve been planning and plotting about what my next thing to do will be, by this point in the year I normally have in mind where I am going next year and sometimes the following year too, in regard to the trips I’m going to take.  Obviously random things crop up and I’ll do them too, but I usually have some idea of where I’m headed next and often have all sorts of ideas about what I’ll do next summer etc.   and it hit me, just as I sat there, that I have no other plans whatsoever, my thinking doesn’t go beyond my trip.  I get back in June and then ….. nothing.    There has never been a time, during my adult life, where this has been the case. I’m comfortable with it, it’s just an observation, kinda like my whole life has been building up to this point in time.  Unknown territory for me.

No doubt I’ll have other random thoughts as time progresses and the trip gets closer, but for now, John has a weeks holiday starting tomorrow and we’ve got some day trips lined up – in particular on Sunday we are going to Worcester for a couple of days, with and courtesy of my mum and dad, who have very kindly decided to treat us and next weekend we are spending in London with our cherished friends Roy and Sue, which will no doubt bring good times and much laughter.

Just a few photos below from last week when we went to St Leonards to visit Johns sister and crew.
