It was a very long day today. We got stuck in the elevator!! It seemed to be going up and down 18 floors forever and the doors wouldn't open. There were six of us in there and it wasn't long before it got incredibly hot - not pleasant. We rang the alarm bell, but noone seemed to do anything - eventually when we arrived at the lobby floor again one of the men in the lift with us forced the door open and let us all squeeze out, I was soooooo relieved to get out of there.

When I booked the flights for New York, I booked the latest flight I could today, 21:35pm to give us a full day here. Right now though we were wishing I'd booked a morning flight - we just wanted to go home. That is a very first for me, I can't ever remember a time before where I've actually looked forward to going home. New York is a money hungry city, we've way blown our budget and everything is just too, too much. From the cost of everything to the portion sizes to the constant stream of traffic....... it's time to go home.

We stored our luggage and decided to go to the Natural History Museum. It was a good choice, it was huge and we spent hours in there looking at dinosaurs and evolution theories etc. - very interesting.

After the museum we went over to Broadway and found somewhere to have something to eat - by now it was getting on for 4pm and we just decided to call it a day and go to the airport early. We went and got our luggage, hailed a taxi and headed off to the airport.

John and I have made a pact with each other - each is to remind the other one that 2 days is more than long enough in any city for us.

Aw, poor you...
I'm glad you took time to go to the Natural History Museum.

Maybe should have scheduled in some time at the Met too?
