I have lost count of the amount of people who have pulled faces or expressed surprise at the fact that I am going to Tenerife - "can't see you there" has been one comment - well, neither can I if you are taking Tenerife as a whole and pigeon holing it into probably the two most famous resorts on the island, Playa de las Américas and Los Cristianos.
 
I know there must be more to Tenerife once you get past these 'playgrounds' and from recent contacts I've had with people who live on the island I feel even more certain. If the aforementioned resorts are your bag, then good luck to you, but I am going in search of the 'Real Tenerife', not the concrete jungle that is on the south coast.
 
3 more days and I'll be up, up and away!
