Wednesday I visited the orphange in Kzyl Orda. There were only two children to see. Very sweet boys, both with severe developmental issues. Unfortunately, not children I'm able to care for.

We left Kzyl Orda in a taxi around 5 p.m. for a wild five hour ride over interesting roads (reminded me off a trip in Turkey - rules of the road?) to Shimkent. Along the way we did pass these hauntingly beautiful Muslim cemeteries and a herd of camels. I snapped some pics of the camels since we had to stop to let them cross the road.

We arrived in Shimkent at around 10. Checked in at a hotel and went to dinner. Then to bed. We were up early this morning for a stop at the Ministry of Education. Then we went to the orphange. We weren't able to see any children this morning as the permission from Astana hadn't yet been faxed. Hopefully this afternoon.

I'll have more to share about Kzyl Orda when I've got more time and a keyboard that works better than this one.

Thanks to everyone for your nice notes. Sorry I missed Oliver's bare butt! :)

That's all for now. Please send me your positive thoughts for finding a healthy child.

Crazy Taxi!
Dear Leyla,
When visiting NY I learned that the best taxi drivers are from Pakastan, or was it, most taxi drivers are from Pakastan? Anyhow, this is the first report I have had on Kasak taxi's. Please be carefull! Good luck at finding the right child. We are praying for you!
We miss you.
John, Angela, and Oliver.

Thinking of You!
Hi Leyla!

Just wanted you to know that Robin, Jessica, and I -- along with lots of others here at Quixtar -- are thinking of you and tracking your progress on your blog. Glad you're there safe and sound, glad you got to see some camels, and hope you find your baby soon!

Sending Prayers for Auntie Leyla and new cousin
Hey Aunt Leyla! Sorry it has taken me so long to sign up for this. I am so ecstatic for you!!!!!!!!! You were a born mother, I can see it in all the pictures you sent me from when you, John, and Lisa were little. We all know who was in charge then and who is now! Hehehe. I miss you and hope to be able to go see you and my new cousin when time permits! Love you lots! Tell Jane I said hello and have her email me. I have something to ask her. Talk to you soon!!!! Love always, Lauren
