I don't like arriving into large, busy cities without having a room booked in advance.  When in Czesky Krumlov I was struggling to find an affordable room in Prague - every online site was either sold out or expensive.  Henry was anxious to leave and felt that I worry too much so off to the train station we went.

From Prague's main train station we took the subway into the heart of the old city - Henry found a comfy chair and a beer so he could sit and look after the backpacks while I ventured out to find a room.  Eventually, I found a loft in a small hotel but they only had the room available for one night - I took it in hopes of finding something somewhere else for the second night.  We got settled into the room and went out to explore.

Henry was not a happy camper being back in a crowded city.  He marched forward with me in tow - through the squares, down the old cobbled streets to the Vlatva River.  We crossed the 'packed with tourists' Charles Bridge leaving the Old Town on the east side for the Little Quarter and Castle Quarter on the west side in search of a quiet space for a beer.  Once settled, Henry said he hadn't wanted to see Prague - I didn't realize!?!   I mentioned that it was supposed to be one of the most beautiful old cities in Europe especially unique because it had experienced minimal damage during WWII.

We never did stay a second night in Prague - but Henry did say, that had we arrived in Prague early on in our trip - not after we had already seen so many old cities -  he would have enjoyed it more, as it was nice to see an original old city and not another reconstructed after heavy war damage.

We've now reached a point in our trip that we realize we've been travelling too long and perhaps it's time to consider returning home.  When small towns are smaller versions of the big cities and the weather is inhibiting exploring outside of the cobbled streets, bus tours, and tourists - it's time to re-think the purpose of our holiday.

I'll work on finding another small town to explore in the meantime.
