What I did
A group of us arranged a vehicle & driver on Sunday to take us to the nearest large town called Nkawkaw. We left camp at 9am so I had to sacrifice my typical Sunday sleep-in, but it was well worth it. The haze is still revolting and hanging in the air, so the views were hardly even visible. Following the drive to the top of this random look-out that I didn’t even know about, but 1 of the other guys did, we descended down a very steep path through the dense jungle/rain forest
Lunch was at a nice hotel in town. I ordered Spaghetti Bolognese, and it came with half a jar of chilli on it...or so it seemed. I’m getting really sick of the food in this country being so spicy. I couldn’t eat it in the end and just ate around the sauce as much I could. Mouth on fire!! We then stopped in downtown Nkawkaw for some random walking through the streets at all the shop stalls and markets. Interesting experience, but something I wouldn’t feel comfortable doing on my own. I’ve done it once before...always surprising that u don’t get mobbed by people trying to sell stuff. The only battle is to not get run over by an erratic taxi or get over-powered by the occasional stench in the air. I didn’t buy anything – I looked for some souvenir style stuff, but it is all food or grocery items. Good day out with my closer circle of co-workers and a great way to finish the week!
