Monaco was unbelievable. I was awestruck most of the time by the fact that I was actually in Monte Carlo! Immaculate streets and gardens/parks, very clean. Designer labels and fashionable people everywhere. So small in area that every available inch of land is consumed, but still so much traffic. Amazing hills and views. The selection of photos show it best than I could describe - i took heaps of pics, so these are just a selection, but still a lot.

Hotel was fantastic. 5 star luxury with sauna and steam room, which I enjoyed. Roof top pool overlooked the Mediterranean coast line. Ferrari's frequently pulling up out front with people arriving to gamble at the casino (the hotel has its own and is right next door to the main Monte Carlo casino). €500 notes being handed over at casino tables.

I went to the main casino on one night with high expectations. It was v quiet. Probably more staff than patrons. Cost €10 to get in! The interior is like one of the palaces I’ve been too; plush seats; pull levers on the pokies. The tables are old-style with the croupiers using real rakes to literally rake the money in. Even the toilets are self-cleaning. The whole place is quite surreal. Not as big as I imagined, and I think it was quiet because u had to pay, whereas the casino at my hotel was always packed & free entry with traditional (or as they say, American) style gaming.

I had a relaxing time. Bit of shopping, eating, drinking and walking around just admiring the wealthy end of the world. It is expensive tho. Meals and drinks are way over-priced (about $17 aussie for a Johnny Walker & coke!). You even have to pay to use the toilet at the shopping centre and main tourist areas. I won some money at the main casino, then lost it (and some more) at the hotel casino... Black Jack luck was definitely not with me in Monaco. But I did see Princess Caroline (after a bit of internet research, I am pretty sure it was her and not Stephanie) at a fancy shopping mall. She was leaving and all her security were precdventing anyone getting close. She then drove off in a silver Porsche...no joke. She looked a bit old and tired. Maybe too much Monaco sun in her life. Anyways, the pictures say it better than i ever could...
