I had a nice sleep until about 11:20 AM and quickly got ready to check out Rome...We walked around a bit and stopped at a card store where I bought my mom a pillow that had a flower on it that said "Momma, you are my flower" on it in Italian. We walked a little farther and people wanted to eat. We actually went to McDonalds. I ended up spilling my drink. I got a happy meal with a dancing hippo or something. The chicken mcnuggets came in the old school styrofoam container. So we walked a little and found Mary and Margaret so we kinda hung out with them and then it was siesta time so a lot of stores were closed. We went in a neat clothing store. I wasn't in the mood to buy clothes. KB tried on a bathing suit. We left that store and we looked in some other shops. We got some gelato and walked back to the hotel. While we were walking, this guy standing on the corner said to Mary, "How are you doin'?" So we stopped at the next corner and went back to talk to the guys. It was Maximilliano and Simone. They were in their early 20s and they owned a business (or something). We got pictures.
Then, we went back to the hotel for a little bit and then we went down to meet everyone for the Vatican museums. We went over and when we got out, we had a little bit of time before we had to meet the tour guides, so we went to the souvineer stand and stopped. I saw a stand where this guy was selling t-shirts for five bucks. I got two Italy t-shirts - for mom and dad, a Roma shirt for my sister, a "Pasta" apron for my grandma and mom, and a hat for dad. Unfortunately I didn't have enough time to go in the other shop for grandma's gift. So we go up to St. Peter's and I realize that I don't have my camera. I was worried. My purse was opened - it wasn't that unusual, but you never know - someone could have just grabbed it since it was right on top. We went up to the Raphael rooms. They were really neat - I saw some pieces of artwork that I studied in art - like the school of Athens and stuff. The sistine chapel was pretty amazing. We sang three songs there. I was pissed because I didn't know the songs as well as I should. Kristy Beth was crying. Gino was great. We go through the museums and see statues like the one with the snakes in art class. We saw this real staircase. I was so tired because of walking on the stone. After that, we went to the restaurant "Al Due Papi." We sung before dinner - a song I personally didn't know (probably some kind of grace). We had spaghetti with meat sauce but I got different sauce. The fruit had alcohol in the juice. I was also making faces at JG and SS.
(This is the point where my original travel journal stops) I remember going out and dancing at Campo Di Fiore. It was totally awesome - we got back pretty late. I danced with men from three different continents - wooo!
