Where I stayed
Yesterday we drove directly from the Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha, stopping only to eat our mediocre lunchbox lunch at some picnic tables near the side of the road somewhere between here and there. All of our cooked meals with GAP Adventures have been fantastic, but the lunchboxes are something we have all developed a strong dislike for.
We said goodbye to our drivers when we arrived at the hotel, but had Mosses promise to come back for drinks after he went home to say hi to his family.
We had an enjoyable evening with some of our fellow tour members, eating, drinking cheap drinks and watching the acrobat show together. The acrobat show was just as impressive as last time and they had new tricks this time. Mosses came around with his boss who asked us how we felt about the tour. I said my only complaint was I hadn't seen a bush baby (I was joking) so Mosses got a security guard at the hotel to walk around the perimeter of the hotel with us, wacking the trees with his night stick and throwing stones in the high branches, trying to draw out a bush baby. It seems we were too early for the bush babies though, as none were to be found. Not even with rocks.
Our room at the Outpost was even nicer than last time. We were again in one of the bungalows and had a very large room with a very large bed in it, and a large bathroom to go with it.
This morning we met up with a group of remaining tour members and Mosses, who led us into the city center to shop for tanzanite and other goods. Unfortunately, the city's (country's?) entire credit card network was down so I couldn't buy the tanzanite jewelry I had been looking forward to purchasing, and the bank machines only let you take out a few hundred dollars at a time.
We rushed back to the hotel to finish packing, then got in our pre-arranged transport which took us to the airport for the bargain price of $40. We are going to Zanzibar to relax on the white sand beaches for a week. We need time to unwind after our phenomenal safari!
