Where I stayed
Our short flight to Kilimanjaro airport from Zanzibar on Precision Air was pretty good. We had a nice view of Kilimanjaro mountain rising above the clouds on our way in. The only bad part was the landing when we had some turbulence, but at least we were warned it would happen so I didn't have to panic too much.
Wolfi managed to negotiate a taxi for us to Arusha for $45 despite the official government price listing of $50. We were also told by the same company that we would take us back to the airport for $40 because there is no surcharge on them from the airport in that direction.
The hotel used by GAP Adventures is the Outpost Lodge and it is really nice. The rooms are very nice, small shared villas set amongst a beautiful tropical garden. There is a nice pool and comfortable bar where we enjoyed some local beer - called Kilimanjaro - and some snacks from the bakery while we waited for our tour meeting.
At the meeting we met our guide Mosses (like the guy with the stick, not the stuff growing on trees) who is very funny and easy to understand. though he did make jokes about the strange way Africans use English and at the end of the meeting asked if we understood at least one or two words he had said. He gave us an overview of what we would be doing on the tour and then most of the group met for dinner to get to know one another.
After breakfast tomorrow we will set off on our safari. I am really looking forward to seeing some Tanzanian wildlife!

Beware of lions and other wild animals. And enjoy! Many thanks for the new report and the fotos.
The lions and other wild animals are exactly what we were hoping to see! But we will keep our distance :)
