After the castle is was coffee time, and then off to the 3 lovely building in the square. St Nicholas, the Bell Tower and the Cathedral. No pictures allowed in the Cathedral - amazing place. Other buildings look like they were churches at one time - so many are built in the 13 and 1400, One of the neat things is how they have the dates on the buildings and the other is all the carvings, or ? the proper name- the people who are made from the stone and all the ones in the church, carved in the the seats. It got a bit windy later in the day and we had to find a sunny spot for a beer and a shared sandwich. These sandwiches are made with crusty buns and are of course delicious. After this we wandered a little more and found a supermarket, so got some goodies, great yogurt and proper cream for coffee, the first night we got what we thought was coffee cream and upon tasting it found that is was evaporated milk - we used this years ago - not now thanks. But apparently that is what is used unless you ask for cafe aulait???spelling? So heading home, with wine, beer, and other goodies, I was thinking for some reason that we would be here for more days than we are - not sure how we will be able to drink it all and eat too, and remember the bottle of gin for the cousins in England we are carrying still!!! Feel like a pack horse - just a little. So after we got back - a cup of tea hit the spot and a little rest before heading out to dinner - a place just the street behind where we are staying - all you can eat spareribs and jacket potatoe - which we had along with some red wine - they leave a huge bottle at the table and then you pour, drink and pay for what you drink only - interesting concept. The place was quite a hot spot - lots of people and the food arrived very quickly - not really much else on the menu!! Good meal and the price was good. Loads of young people in there - university town!! So back to house was quick, easy to stagger home if needed =but not for us. We had coffee and dessert at home!! And here endeth the day.
Well we really have been lucky with the weather along the way - had 2 great day here with sun and wwarm temperatures. Change in the night with heavy rain - quite fresh this morning when I went out in search of bread - first stop closed again - another does not sell bread and back to the one I felt sure about and got some bread and headed home - they slice very thin here, the way I like it, but not Garry. He will be happier in England!! So home to get breakfast - nice out but colder for sure, there were groups of people out on a walking tour as I was headed back to our abode. Eventually we got ourselves on the road and headed to the Castle of Counts, which took a fair bit of time to go through - great views from the top. We got a museum pass and the gives us entry to all and also bus and tram free - so we need to use it up in the next couple of days - only good for 3 days in all. A couple are close by to us, and I would like to see the other Begine which is near by.
