The Tuesday 'day off' mob are legends! Haley (USA waterski), Regina (USA Outdoor adventure), Darren (NZ Lifeguard), Jack (USA Tennis), Team Handsome...or Jake and Alex (USA Landsports and waterfront), Abby (USA Volleyball), Mark (USA Performing arts), Stephanie (USA Creative arts), Israel (Mexico Soccer) and I get to spend every Tuesday together.....off camp!!!! Wooooh!!!
We get up to lots of mischief.

1st day off: Full staff day off! The night before the camp paid for us to see Get Smart the movie...I literally passed out from exhaustion during 3/4s of the movie!!! The next morning we split up into cars and went to Freeport (major outlet shopping). Checked out these huge shops and STARBUCKS! So exciting just to drink softdrink and good coffee again! ha ha! We then drove to Old Orchard Beach (a seaside fair and shopping village) when it decided to rain on us. We hung out in the pub watching a red sox game and then ran around between food/tattoo/cheap clothing shops in the freezing rain. When it finally stopped raining we headed to the beach where some brave kiwi's were swimming and we all took over the fair and carousel!!! After OOB we went to Thai Dish for tea (brocolli and sprouts....my soon to be regular dish) and then drunken bowling and machine dancing!!!

1st Tuesday off: We headed to Old Port (a part of Portland- Maine's capital) for some seaside shopping and BUBBLE TEA!!! (This WEIRD iced tea latte thing with tapioca 'bubbles' in it). We then went to the Maine Mall where Abby and I did some stress relieving retail therapy and I called home for the first time!!!! Then we headed to Wallmart, Pat's pizza and the gutter (and basically anywhere to chill out that wasn't camp!!!)

2nd Tuesday off: We all drove to New Hampshire (the next state over from Maine) to the 'Lazy River' where we hired tubes, bought alcohol, tipped alcohol into water bottles when we were told we couldn't have glass on the river, tied our tubes together, and floated luxuriously down the river!!!! By the end we were incredibly happy, and some were incredibly sunburnt (NOT ME MUM!!!). We then drove to the big smoke to watch the Portland Seadogs vs. New Hampshire something-or-others play minor league baseball. Such a good day!

3rd Tuesday off: Major early morning trip to BOSTON!!! Woohoo!!! Checked out the original Thai Dish (the greatest restaurant ever!) and got discounted entrees because Team Handsome are so obsessed with Thai dish that they've embroided team handsome hats and have used thai dish as their 'unofficial sponsers'! (the poor oriental staff were just so confused they probably gave us free food to shut us up!) We then met up with some ex-Wekeela campers who went to camp with Emily and Alex  (ie. incredibly rich, spoiled 18yr old kids with amazing cars, clothes and allowances!) who crammed us into their cars and gave us the most upperclass tour ever!! Saw the richest areas of Bosten, ate the most expensive icecream of my life, and window shopped in prada and gucci stores in my camp singlet and pluggers!!! Best of all was when we met someone who studied music with Emily who was attending a summer school course at Berklee college of music and gave us a free tour. Amazing!!!!!

4th Tuesday off: Woke up at 5am (Getting earlier and earlier!) and drove to Alex's parent's summer house in Belfast, Maine. It was an absolutely beautiful mansion in the middle of nowhere. Maine is full of deros, and then random mansions belonging to rich people and movie stars who only visit during the summer. We ate breaky in a tiny diner and checked out a cute little girl with a weird dad in an even weirder hat. After about 20 minutes, Jake took out his i-phone and googled something. A second later he held up the phone with a picture and Dr John Carter from ER on it, and wide-eyed he pointed towards the little girl's weird father. When he turned around we realised we were eating with a movie star!!!!!!! We left the diner at the same time and Dr Carter (Noah Wyle) said hi and we said 'you have a cute daughter...are you on ER?' and he said 'I was....I'm Noah, pleased to meet you...' etc etc...He was very friendly! We then went back to Alex's place and we crashed in front of the tv. When we woke, we picked blueberries, played nintendo and watched more tele. Then we went to a live seafood joint on the harbour for lobster (and corn for Regina and I...the vegies). We then bought daquaris and ingredients for a major bbq feast and went back to chill out more. That night we watched Batman, the Dark Knight in the tiny Belfast cinema and guess who we saw in his weird hat in the cinema line........DR CARTER! Funniest thing was when he pointed at us and goes 'I recognise you from breakfast!'. We were just like.......oh yeah, look at us.....recognised by a movie star!!!!!! We slept overnight and woke at 6 the next morning for the 1.5 hr drive back to camp. zzzzzz

5th Tuesday off: Haley's birthday!!!!!!! Drove to Auburn and booked a room in the Econo Lodge (30mins from camp and right next door to the closest pub from camp - Rack m Up). We then bought supplies at Walmart....smoothie for breaky.....drove to Old Orchard Beach for candy, lazing on the beach, shopping, and Haley got a manicure and massage. Then we headed back to our room to play drinking games and eat Mexican (arrrrrrrrrrrrr......Mexican!) for tea. We had a giant cake and then headed over to Rack M Up to meet the whole rest of camp and even Ephram and the junior counsellors!! Abby and I snuck back to the lodge and chilled on the ground playing truth or dare.

Random Half day off - Walmart in the morning of course to buy color war clothes and white shirts for tie dyeing! Then headed to Ruby Tuesday's for Anna's birthday lunch and had hamburgers without the ham part. Then Bridget (USA Opera singer), Anna (UK Lawyer), Ryan (Aussie student) and I drove to the Auburn mall and bought books, lollies and ANOTHER PIERCED EAR!!!! Anna and I both paid half price to get our right cartlidge pierced for her bday! Then we nipped back to camp and dressed in green and white to pretend that 'Color war' had started just to stir up the kids!!!

Final day off - This was meant to be a chilled out day with Bridget, Daryl and I....our only plan being to find a massage place and a pub to watch the olympics in. The rest of our group headed off at 6am to go surfing (too cold and early for my car!). We planned to meet up with them after a walmart trip, but we realised we didn't have anyone's phone number!!! Finally we decided to go to Old Orchard Beach one last time and got completely lost on the way. 3 hours later we finally made it! Then it rained! Then the only pub with a tv was playing a baseball game and no olympics! Then the spa was so expensive we almost fainted before we walked out the door. Then it rained even harder. Ha ha ha! What a day. Just as we were leaving, we bumped into the boys who didn't end up going surfing afterall because of the weather. We drove to a pub and watched the olympic...wrestling...gah!?! Then we drove to Lewiston and checked out the brewery (pretty bad yankie beer). Finally we headed to Rack M Up and I used all my olympic dart training from dad to beat the guys in 'round the world'!!!! Because us 3 girls had been drinking we got a responsible DD to drive us home, but little did we know that someone from the pub had placed their beer on top of our car and we were driving down the street to camp with it balanced on top of us!!!! The cops of course pulled us over. Bridget freaked. Cop opened the door and the first thing he found was 2 beers in the driverside door (belonging to the girl we borrowed the car from). Juan (our Columbian DD) got so nervous he forgot English and I had to translate to the policeman. I was the only one who was calm....probably because I was the only one overage too...thank god! Juan was asked to show his usa license and rego. He had neither of course because he was driving someone elses car and had a Columbian license! He kept saying 'i get it from back' (meaning he'll fetch his license from the boot to aussies, and the trunk to yankies). When he tried to open the door the cop got nasty and slammed it on him and shouted 'where are you going?!'. So I translated some more and Daryl in the back seat burst into tears and grabbed the officer and pronounced her innocence and told him that she'd done nothing wrong and didn't know what was happening (at the same time that she was on her mobile to her mummy, having a panic attack and balling). The cop was so overwhelmed he just sent us away into the night! What an adventure!!!!!
