We started our road trip on December 11. Our plan was to get Thomas into some warm weather, spend time in South Miami so Thomas could help his 84 year old uncle with repairs on his home, and find an area we liked well enough to spend weeks at a time in. As usual, no hotel reservations or set itinerary! We hit the open road with abandon! First stop Port St. Lucie on the Atlantic coast. We chilled for two nights before heading farther south. A lot of sweet naps for me and soaking my feet in the water.

Next stop Boynton Beach about an hour north of Miami. Thomas helped his uncle and Mecca and I relaxed. I surprised M with her first professional pedicure for her birthday. Spent the day at Delray Beach. Very cute town with lots of shops and restaurants.

We took the new highway (75 aka Alligator Alley) west through the Everglades. A beautiful drive with lots of scenery but no place to get out and take a walk. Towards the end I was really disappointed that we hadn't taken the old highway to get to the gulf coast. So we decided to spend the night in Naples which is the closest city to the Everglades to be able to go back to the Everglades the next day. Well we fell in love with Naples! It's beautiful, calm and peaceful. A place we would all like to spend more time in. Turns out we were on the perfect highway--had we been able to hike we never would have stopped in Naples. We would have kept driving to Ft. Myers.

As many of you know December 21st was the end of the Mayan calendar and we wanted to do something sacred to acknowledge the day. We spent two nights in Siesta Key Florida on a beach that is 99% quartz crystal meditating and being somewhat still (for us anyway). It was amazing welcoming in this new period in such wonderful surroundings. Next stop, just outside of Tampa Bay for a week!

Cool... My grandson, Aaron, plays football for Ball State... They were mauled by UCF at a playoff Bowl (in Tampa) game this past Friday.

Now that the year 2012 of living outrageously is ending, what's next? How was 2012?

It's looks like you had a great time! Beautiful places and weather make it extra nice when you are with the ones you love. Thanks once again for sharing your joy with me - its up lifting. Hotel internet was broken until the last evening in LA. it would take 10 minutes to open one web page, but your blog was worth the wait!
