After a good breakfast at the hotel we set off by bus for Stanley to the south off Hong Kong Island. The bus ride was worth the effort in itself as we twisted our way through narrow hilly streets. We also passed through Repulse Bay with lovely views.
On arrival in Stanley we went through the famous market and bought a few bits and pieces. Surprisingly no hard sell though.
After a lunch we went around the bay to Murray house. This is an old colonial building. From there it was on to a Buddhist temple, which although surrounded by modern buildings turned out to be over 200 years old. We then took the white knuckle ride back into town, passing some fantastic sights including a huge cemetery.
In the evening we went to Pacific Place. This is Hong Kong's latest shopping mall and it was clearly not the place to bring your wife. On the ground floor there was a good Thai restaurant so a great end to the evening.
