Where I stayed
Day 162: After arriving in Fort William we walked around a little through the city, had lunch at the pub and got food for dinner since our hostel has a kitchen, the first one in quite a while and we are looking forward to making dinner. That night we ended up finding at a ten pin bowling alley were we had a few games. Steve 3 : Emma 0
Day 163: Today we went and hired a car and drove out to the Nevis Range where we booked to do a high wire ropes course, I haven't done one before so was looking forward to it. We got hooked up with our harnesses and proceeded up onto the first course, this one was the basic square course about 13m high and just a range of different obstacles and at the end there was a free fall from about 20m high. We then had a ag at two other course which were located in the woods and was attached to the trees, these were a bit harder then the first one but still managed to get through with out falling of, Emma wasn't as lucky. The last course finished with a 50m zip line.
After the Nevis Range we had the rest of the afternoon to do something and since we had the car we just opened up the map and pointed to area that was as far west as we could go in our time frame and went for a drive. The scenery in Scotland is just amazing and stop of many times to take photos and just to have a look. We ended getting to a placecalled Mallaig and even when we got there there was still roads to go down so we took a random road and continued along this until our road ran out and we were at the ocean. By this time it was starting to get back, so we took a few last photos and then proceeded to head back.
Day 164: We went for another drive today out to the Isle of Skye. The day was not promising much when we headed off, dark clouds and rain, but by the time we were almost there the sun started to come up and was sunny for the majority of the rest of the day. We stopped off for lunch when we arrived at this very homey cafe where the food was really good, as well as the hot choclate. We then continued to drive with not much idea of where we were going as we didn't have a map, we were heading north to the tip of the island but would have taken a few hours so we took the next left we found and headed towards the western side of the island. We drove for an extra hour or so ended up at Neist Point Lighthouse which is the most western part of the island,. It wasn't the most authentic lighthouse but it was very impressive as it was positioned right on the cliff edge and we got some really good photos, Emma let me do all the walking to the lighthouse since it was a bit of a hike down the side of one cliff and then back up a hill before getting to the lighthouse. It is also a hotel, so if any one wants to carry there luggage over a kilometer away it would be really nice especi lly at sunset which is when we got there and it was pretty cool, even though it is a bit windy. After this we headed back (about a 3 hour drive) and got back when it was dark.
Day 165: We didn't do as much today as the previous couple of days since we returned the car, so we spent the morning walking around the city and booking the train for the next day to Glasgow. Then in the afternoon we got some drinks and took it back to the hostel and played board games for the rest of the day which turned out to be a good way to unwind after two full days.
