Day 146:  We got into York and immediately thought that this is what Old England should look like, from the imposing wall that surrounds the old part of the city to the small lane ways zigzagging through houses and shops.  After checking in we went for a walk for the rest of the afternoon taking heaps of photos and looking at all the really cool buildings.  The cathedral is amazing but for 15 it was a bit much, plus we could see most of the inside from where you buy the tickets from so we just took some photos from there.

Day 147:  I was able to go for a run this morning for the first time since before the Greek Islands and it felt good, especially with the cool air, reminds me of going for runs in winter in Ballarat.  Today we did the long walk on top of the wall that goes around the city, there are a few parts where the wall has come down and a largish section that couldn't be built because the ground was too boggy so they left it as the King's personal fishing spot.  It took a good 4 hours or so and included a few gates that span across the roads and the old Kings residence which just looks like a small tower now since it was partially destroyed and sits on top a large mound looking over the city.  That night we had dinner in one of the really old and small English pubs.  I really find these pubs the best, the atmosphere and coziness with the wooden table and chairs and fire places, etc.

Day 148:  We spent today exploring more of the old city, there are so many winding streets here that we think we saw most of it but no doubt missed at least a little bit.  We had to find an area where Emma had to take a picture of her Birthday message for her cousin's 1st birthday, so we took the picture in front of the cathedral and posted it to her Aunties Facebook page and she loved it.  Nothing really eventful happened today, just a run of the mill normal day of exploring.

Day 149:  Today was spent predominantly in the bedroom because Emma had injured her back and any movement at all caused her a lot of pain, all the walking and pack carrying has probably finally caught up to her back and we thought that it would be good to just lie in bed and watch TV.  It was good that we had a private room with a TV and heater so it wasn't all bad.
