What I did
Surfers Paradise, Burliegh Heads National Park

Yesterday I took a bus to Burleigh Heads National Park and did some hiking on an oceanfront path and up in the rainforest trails. At the lookout there were great views all the way to Snapper Rocks in the south to Surfers Paradise in the north. Most of the Gold Coast resembles the Sunshine Coast, with small/medium sized condos, apartments and homes all the way along the coastline but Surfers is like a Huge city right on the beach.
There is a patch of skyscrapers along the beachfront, some very high, and the tallest one being 80 stories. I got back on the bus at Burleigh Heads and continued on to Surfers Paradise for another afternoon at the beach. Surfers is a really hyped up palce, and I wanted to see it, but to be honest I was more impressed with Coolangatta/Snapper Rocks, but it was something to see anyways. The waves were intense, and lifeguards were actually on their paddleboards out in the water in front the crowd, seemingly waiting for someone to get swept out to sea! The lifguards on the shore continually went down to the beach and with the loudspeaker warned the swimmwers about rips and dangerous waves. I went out, but not for too long, it was kinda crazy. I’m a stong swimmer, but I felt myself being pulled out a few times, so, I was happy just to sit on the beach and enjoy the view of the beach and the skyscrapers. The sun was hot and stayed out for just as long as I wanted to be on the beach, and when I had had enough it got cloudy, so I bussed back to the hostel, and packed for my early departure.
