HE SAID:
We took an excursion from our hotel to Taquile island. It was a very scenic boat ride and seeing the way of life of the people on the island was very interesting. The way the people position their hats represents if they are happy or not. We then came back to the hotel for lunch and then went on a walk to see the village around the hotel.

Lake Titicaca is enormous, almost looks like an ocean of deep blue color. Taquile was quaint, calm and relaxing. I especially enjoyed meeting the women of taquile and learning about their dating rituals. For women they have to pass a cooking test of the mother inlaw and they create a woven belt that represents all the promises of the man and dreams of the couple for their life together. The walk around the village with a guide was also so interesting. The families were all out farming on the sunny afternoon and the children out of school for the holiday were all out running around playing games and with their dogs. All the people we encountered in the Puno area wear traditional dress as part of everday life, all the bright colors of Peru's nature. Not sure what the rest of Peru holds but this stop is going to be hard to top.
