I decided at 9:30AM to take the 10:30 bus from Copan to Tela. I saw a 11AM bus that was available but when the hotel called, they said that bus was only available if the 10:30 bus if full. So I rushed to the bus station and was immediately told that the 10:30 bus was sold out and that there is no 11AM bus. The next bus was at 2:30P. So with several hours to spare, I took a tuk-tuk to Macaw Mountain. This bird park is also a bird rescue center so it contains mostly parrots with a few toucans. Nearly all of the birds are caged except for a few that are there for guest participation. I chose to hold 1 bird in each hand and another on my shoulder. It was fun until the bird decided to eat my shirt. I guess those holes make me look more like a backpacker now.

The ride to San Pedro Sula bus station was non-eventful. I was on the bus to Tela, now an hour after departure time and we haven't moved an inch. Finally a representative of the bus gets on and told us that the reason for the delay is that the road to Tela has been taken. Of course, I immediately think guys with machine guns taking over the road when in fact it was a bus company strike. Strange enough, it wasnt the employees of the bus company that were striking, it was the owners. They owners had trucks blocking the roads to their own buses. So we had to go a different, longer way. On the way, I met a nice guy, Derek, and we ended up taking a taxi from the bus station to the same hotel (different rooms, of course).
