Where I stayed
This entry is be pretty boring. Beware!!!
-You should be able to tell where I can easily and quickly upload pictures on various entries and the ones where there are only a few pictures, I had to fight for internet time. Or the PC was too slow. I had good access for this entry.
Like I said I before, I just picked a place on the map half-way between Manchester and London. And the only place I've heard of, was Oxford. Thus I went....
I arrived late am and easily found my hostel. Since there is only 2 hostels in the town, it wasn't too hard to pick a place. Immediately upon walking out of the train station, I could feel the university town kind of feel. Smaller buildings, cheap restaurants, and a lot of younger people. As I said I found my hostel easily and got my map as always along with a few suggestions. I met my roommate who was from a country that I have never heard of before which is one of the two in S. Africa. I still can't remember the name to save my life. Afterward I set out and started walking around. I must say it was pretty cool to just walk around the place even though I was just a visitor. It almost made me want to pick up a book and start studying something. Almost!!! The school seemed kind of Medieval which was neat with a lot of big wooden doors to the different colleges and gardens in the middle of the square. Some of the colleges you had to pay a small fee just to walk inside and see the various halls, chapels, and finely manicured gardens. The place was really incredible to see! I only paid to get into two different colleges but there were a ton to choose from. I think I went in the college that the movie "Harry Potter" was filmed in. I didn't recognize anything because I've only seen the first one back in the day and feel asleep mid-way through. So it was all new to me. History time: I think Oxford U. is the first school in England and is like 1,000 years old. Something like that. After just wandering around for a bit, I grabbed some food and just went back to the hostel. I had my fill of Oxford and everything was closing that was tourist related. Soon after I passed out reading a book and woke up to my roommate walking in. Tried to see if anything was happening out in town but since it is the summer, nada! So I went back to the hostel and proceeded to watch 2 B-grade movies on a projector. That is all she wrote!
