Early check out and onto a mini bus across Bali for a few hours to the harbor. We saw a motor bike accident, but luckily none of the 6 riders on the 2 bikes had more than a few scratches and scrapes.

Our boat left early as the waves were picking up and the captain wanted to get going before they were too big to get out. Our safety instruction consisted of "there are life jackets under the seats. If the captain says put them on, put them on. When the captain say jump, jump, we jump together, we swim together." Then we were off into the 9 foot+ surf. It did decrease a little but what we hoped would be a smooth 1 hour ride turned into 2 hours of bouncing, rolley, and even jarring journey, complete with German tourists throwing up. Thank goodness Jason hooked us up with Dramamine or we would have been feeding the fish as well.

We did make it to Gili Trawangan safely and were amazed with the little islands blue water. We were greeted by a couple touts with little pony and buggy set ups- there are no motorized vehicles allowed on the Gilis, so you either walk, bike, or buggy. After walking around in the brutal heat and sun with our packs, Jon and I settled on Manta Cafe Bungalows- A/C, hot water, and outside bathroom. Despite the bathroom being outside and run with salt water (everything on the island is salt water) the bathroom was a significant and appreciated upgrade. We met up with Alison and Jason and spent the rest of the afternoon trying not to die from the heat: used the internet but the power went out (oh small island living!) causing everyone to loose their blog entries, checked out the market consisting of 3 shops, not much there. Did I mention the island is tiny? Alison and I both purchased dresses after some tough negotiations. The boys were both lying on the tile floor trying to cool down. We booked our dives for tomorrow, hung out in the shade of the open air bungalow at our cafe, and sweated! We had dinner at a sushi place which was ok, but not spectacular. We had a drink at Rudy's and called it. Travel days are tiring.

I hope you guys find some more a/c soon. It really makes you appreciate the states. Enjoy this time and take a lot of pictures. Are you able to post photos on your blog entry? I am dying to see what kind of fish you will see diving! Thanks for the update!
