We decide it is time to get the hell outta Lima. We contemplate heading up into the jungle or possibly further south. We can't make any decisions...we decide to grab some food from a little street vender type place. Who knew rice, an egg, and bananas would make a pretty good meal? Jonathan is not at all impressed with is hamburger.
Still no decision is made, fits are thrown, bus schedules are hard to read. The super nice guy at our hostal does his very best to help us figure things out. Finally we head to the bus station. Why are bus stations ALWAYS in a crappy part of town? We board our bus for Ica. Four and a half hours later, after enduring "Broken Arrow" and "Cheaper by the Dozen", I feel stupider, but we are in Ica
Ica is a busy town. We grab sandwiches from a street vendor and head to check out the Plaza de Aramas. After a little debate we decide to head to Huacachina tonight. We jump into a taxi after negotiating the rate and drive out of town into pitch black. Even with the headlights, I can barely see the road, we see 2 other vehicles, both going to opposite direction. Later, Jonathan and I both say that we were thinking we were being taken off to be robbed or what-not. But we were safely delivered to the "happening" town of Huacachina.
It is like a freaking ghost town. There is no one to bee seen on the town's 2 streets. We check out a couple hostals, all claiming to be mostly full, including one with blood on the sheets. We settle on El Huacanicero, and dump our stuff. We walk the town and locate the only bar with people in it. Once again it is pizza and beer. The kitchen is closed except for pizza and something that all the bartenders are eating from a big pot. It must be there "munches food" as they are all getting high behind the bar. There are dogs running around all over the bar. Not a bad place to hang out. Back to the hostal and to sleep after a few more beers. No signs of the "all night pool parties", maybe tomorrow?
