Day 1 20-06-07
Arrive in Lima.  Get jacked up by taxi driver to Miraflores. El Patio Hostel is full, total bummer- it looks nice and has a super friendly dog.  Jonathan sits in Parque Central with our backpacks and gets totally harrassed by vendors: shoe polish guys, fake Peruvian deblooms guys, cookbook guys, candy kids, etc.  I look at several hostels.  We end up checking in to La Casa Nostra.  We hit the town of Miraflores, start at a tapas bar, the Flying Dog, and have some cervesas.  Next we go to Haiti and have our first pisco sours and ceviche.  Jonathan likes the ceviche and the sweet potato, there is a first time for everything.  I comment that "these pisco sours are dangerous good."  We walk around the crowded streets some more and decide on an outside cafe that offers free pisco sours and order some delicious onion rings.  A bulldog walks buy in a cute little jacket, but he is nothing compaired to Arnie.  We venture into a mostly empty discotech...for more free pisco sours of course.  I decide we will go to a "happening bar" from the lonely planet guide.  On the way there we stop into Atlantic City Casino.  Jon has spidey sence and we put 50 soles on black.  But they only take dollars.  It hits black, what a scam!  the owe us some money.  oh well.

Back on our mission to Terra's (aka happening bar) to be the only people there besides 4 of the bartender's friends watching futbol on TV.  I get yet another pisco sour and Jon orders a huge beer...on accident.  We finish our drinks and head into what we think is a disco, but is in fact a closing resterant.  There is a flower stand in the little plaza and I start ranting about hating calla lillies, totally freaking out the poor flower lady.  We head back to the Flying Dog tapas bar.  Mas CERVESAS!  Straight pisco shots are ordered...the bar tender comes over to check that is what we have actually ordered.  It is not good....

I make the bartender my new best friend, but not the one that is actually serving us.  I fall off my barstool not once, but twice and have to be picked up off the floor both times by the security guard.  As I am a wee bit drunk we decide it is time to head home to La Casa Nostra.  Somewhere along the way I find a lemon and lob it at the back of Jon's head.  He says it hurts.  We make it back to the hostel without further incident.  The room is a freaking icebox, I take a less than warm shower and crawl into bed.  Peru is going to be fun or it is going to kill me...possibly both.
