My Quidditch team was very lucky and able to go to the Middlebury Classic! It was so much fun, and I'm especially glad I got to play because I won’t ever be in the World Cup.  This is as close as I’ll get, maybe even closer, because they don’t hold the World Cups in Middlebury anymore.  We played well most of the time, and we always played within the rules (which unfortunately can’t be said for all of the teams we played).

Getting there was difficult: the bus driver was horrible and got lost so we were two hours late - a six hour ride there. He drove the wrong way to get out of Boston, for example. Vermont was tough, because they were still a mess from Hurricane Irene. We drove through the town that our Commissioner grew up in, and she pointed out the destroyed field where she used to play soccer. A bunch of roads were closed as well, and our idiot bus driver chose to drive up one of the steep, winding dirt roads and then had to go in reverse down it when he got stuck. It was terrifying! But everyone at Middlebury was waiting for us to show up; apparently we have a slight reputation.

But…I saw Alex Benepe; listened to wonderful announcing; heard the Middlebury A cappella group sing Harry Potter songs, including the "Mysterious Ticking Noise", (complete with a bikini-clad “Dumbledore”); watched some Middle School teams play; played Beater against several teams; didn’t get injured (the same cannot be said for others); had a picnic with my team; saw my captain do an amazing job Snitching (he threw a hay bale at a Seeker, for example); and got to spend a day in the cool, crisp, clean air of Vermont.
