Today, we surfed.

we woke up, ate fruit with two other canadian guys, rented boards and hit the beach.
it was fantastic.

The water was warm as a hot tub, and the skies were clear and big fat waves were rolling in. Tamarindo beach is a very busy beach for surfing, but we managed to find some space. Spent long hours on our boards talking about how great today was.

Today, we burned.

surf anxiety can render one a bit reckless. in the excitement and anticipation of getting in the water, suzi and i both forgot about skin's best friend - sun block.

post-surf haze can also render one a bit reckless. One, you're exhausted. Two, it's a happy exhaustion. Three, you're relaxed and care free. a bit too care free. We realized we had no sun block but we did have my tanning oil that has SPF 4. that's better than nothing right? wrong.

We returned to our hostel smelling slightly of roasted pork. We had literally cooked in the sun.We went out with Dan the Doctor and two american girls to gorge on $1 burritos. For the record, stuffing one's self full of burrito goodness provides a very short distraction of the pain of one's skin still cooking on one's body.

After gorging, we retired to a night of aloe vera and rolling around on the cold tile floors.
