It is amazing how quickly one becomes accustomed to luxury. By the time Mum and Dad arrive, all beaming familiar smiles and happiness, we were still excited by the various poses we could strike on our balcony lounger, surprised by people stopping what they were doing and holding doors open for us, delighted at being able to control the temperature in our mosquito-free room. We had already been for a dip in the pool, had showered under the rain-head douche, had wrapped ourselves in thick fluffy towels that smelt of cleanness, had eaten exquisite food by candlelight on the open grass terrace overlooking the floodlit waves washing white foam up the beach. Had inhaled and swilled and supped and immersed ourselves in a bottle of chilled white wine - oh, wine! how magnificent you are.
But by the following morning we were ordering a golf buggy to come and pick us up and wheel us to the buffet breakfast!
